Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. When she was five, she moved to Oxfordshire where she studied at the Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she made the decision to become an actress. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a full-time school of theatre in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. By the time she turned 10, she had already taken part in many Stagecoach productions and plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) was the movie version of J.K. Rowlings bestselling novel was cast for the very first time back in the year 1999. Emma was found by casting agents via Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman, the producer of Harry Potter Harry Potter's Sorcerer's Stone, and Ron Weasley told Emma after eight auditions that she had been chosen for these characters. The cast included Daniel Radcliffe Rupert Grint and Rupert Grint. Emma's debut on screen took place with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone's premiere in the year 2001. It broke all records for its opening and weekend ticket revenues, and was the highest-grossing film of 2001. Critics gave high praise to the film, and especially the younger actors. The Daily Telegraph in Britain, which is widely distributed the newspaper, described her performance as outstanding. Emma won the Young Artist Award as the leading young actress in an Feature Film. She was later nominated five times for her role in the movie.
